Tatami Style Surface
Our tatami surface is generally reserved for the "stand up" or "traditional gi (uniform)" Martial Arts. The tatami surface has the traditional look and will offer better traction for stand up arts such as Muay Thai kickboxing, Karate, Tae Kwondo, Aikido, Judo and many more. |
Smooth Surface
Our smooth surface is often referred to as an "MMA surface." Most athletes who prefer the smooth surface or mma typically do not wear the traditional Gi (uniform) during training. The smooth surface offers less mat burns when training grappling on the ground. |

Krzysztof Soszynski Krzysztof, a professional mixed martial artist for over 6 years, has trained and fought across North American. He had his first fight after five months of training and has not looked back since. After training with Shawn Tompkins and Bas Rutten he went on to win the TKO Heavyweight belt in Montreal, Quebec in 2006. He has fought in the UFC, HD Net Fights, IFL, TKO, Strikeforce and many other organizations across North America. Soszynski was a season 8 cast member for UFC's reality show ‘The Ultimate Fighter'. ROGER DABNEY, owner of Competitive Edge Karate has over 30 years of experience in martial arts. He reached the rank of black belt at the age of 17 and holds the rank of 6th degree Black Belt in both American Open Style Karate and Tae Kwon Do. Among his other accomplishments Renshi Dabney has achieved an Amateur Featherweight Kickboxing Championship, was chosen as a member on the 1986 United States Karate Team and a Virginia Welterweight Kickboxing Professional Championship. He was named one of the Top Ten (PKC) Kickboxers in the world in 1994 as a Welterweight and the second ranked (WKKO) Super Middleweight. Southlake Carroll ISD's Athletic Department, one of the most prestigious athletic programs in the United States, has a new mission; "To build the best youth wrestling & grappling program in the country." According to director of athletics, Kevin Ozee. "We want to promote all of our sports, including wrestling/grappling, as the best in the nation. We chose to partner with Dollamur because of their first class facility & Instruction that is housed in Southlake, Texas, and for their relationship with USA Wrestling and Grappling. Through Dollamur, in Southlake, we will be working together to promote our youth wrestling/grappling groups on the Intermediate, Jr. High, High School & Senior High levels. In a year or so, we will also be constructing a new wrestling facility at Carroll Senior High and will try to emulate some of the facility design in Dollamur's beautiful Southlake facility."
